If you don't know Friday was Malala Yousafzai's 16th birthday. Malala was the Pakistani school girl shot last year in the head on her school bus by the Taliban due to her campaigning for women's rights and education. That's right a group of grown men shot to kill a bus full of young girls. But guess what? The cowards didn't win as Malala survived and she now dedicates her life to the rights of young women and an education for all. Instead of silencing her they have made her shout louder.
It was also my friend Tom's birthday on Friday but he was willing to move his celebrations to Saturday so as not distract from Malala's speech to the UN and in particular the celebrations in the UK which his wife helped organise as part of Plan UK.
